James Boddy

James is an experienced barrister who spent five years with leading employment law set 11 KBW before joining Ferguson Solicitors in March 2010. He advises clients on all areas of employment law including discrimination, whistleblowing, unfair and wrongful dismissal, bonus disputes and restrictive covenants.

While at 11 KBW, James appeared regularly in employment tribunals, the employment appeal tribunal, the High Court and the county courts. He has extensive experience of representing both claimants and respondents/defendants, and has acted as sole counsel in numerous multi-day and high value claims. He is a contributor to Tolley’s Employment Handbook and has written a number of articles on the different areas of his practice.

Before qualifying as a barrister in 2004, James obtained a first class degree in Politics and History from Durham University. He undertook the law conversion course at City University and was graded ‘outstanding’ in his Bar exams at the Inns of Court School of Law.

Outside of his work with Ferguson, James is actively involved with Lucca Leadership, a social enterprise offering leadership development training for young people around the world. He is also passionate about sport, particularly cricket, and loves to travel.
